This episode is worse than last year but it’s part of a pattern. If Thor had either allowed Astroland to stay or made a multi year contract with a carnival operator, we’d have plenty of rides instead of a shortage or shutdown. At the beginning of both seasons Thor Equities sent out a press release promising a certain number of rides through Labor Day then failed to keep the promise.

In 2008 Geren’s Rides on Thor’s Stillwell property started leaving in July for his Southern fairs and Thor’s lot was empty by August. This year, two of Geren’s rides left a few weeks ago but he did make an effort to bring in replacements. The reason for the shutdown has nothing to do with Geren or Thor’s other tenants. It’s a dispute about the rent between Thor Equities and Dreamland’s rental agent. What a mess!
